Bright Aboagye

Editor in Chief

Bright Aboagye is a third-year LLB Law with Politics student and the Editor-in-Chief of the Hull Law Review, having previously served as the Case Comment Editor and Managing Editor on the inaugural Board. He is also the Student Ambassador for the University of Law at the Hull Campus and the winner of the Law School’s Client Interviewing Competition. In recognition of his academic excellence, Bright was awarded a Certificate of Achievement by the School of Politics for earning the highest grade among his cohort in the module Understanding America. He also has experience in student leadership, having served as the former Secretary for Press for the National Union of Ghana Students. Passionate about human rights advocacy, Bright’s research interests lie at the intersection of law and politics, where he continues to explore issues of justice and governance.

Beenish Qadir

Managing Editor

Beenish Qadir is an LLM student and the Managing Editor of the Hull Law Review, as well as a Commonwealth Scholar for the 2024/2025 academic year, with a deep passion for legal research. She also serves as an International Student Ambassador for the University. Beenish received a Certificate of Excellence for achieving the top grade globally in her Dissertation and Public Law modules during her undergraduate studies at the University of London. Her research interests center on legislative reforms aimed at addressing human rights crises for minorities in Pakistan, and exploring how international economic sanctions can influence human rights violations. Outside academic pursuits, Beenish is a dedicated artist who enjoys painting in her free time. She is also a proud cat mom to two wonderful feline companions, who bring joy to her daily life.

Theresa Webster

Managing Editor

Theresa Webster is a fourth-year LLB law student and is a Managing Editor at the Hull Law Review. She has a strong interest in international law and spent a year studying at Heinrich Heine Universität in Düsseldorf, Germany, where she focused on US, German, and EU law. Last year, she visited the European Parliament in Brussels, an experience that inspired her to pursue a legal career in Germany.

Canay Sagbasan

Deputy Editor

Canay Sagbasan is an LLB Law student and the Deputy Editor of the Hull Law Review, as well as a course representative. She has a strong passion for advocacy and critical thinking, which she applies in her daily activities. Alongside her studies, she volunteers at Oxfam and is currently in the selection process with Citizens Advice in Hull. Beyond academics, Canay is a dedicated athlete, competitively participating in gymnastics. She is also deeply committed to charitable causes, regularly fundraising and organizing events to support organizations close to her heart. Through marathons and other initiatives, she actively raises awareness and funds for important social causes

Chloe Baidya

Deputy Editor

Chloe Vaidya is a second-year Law with Criminology undergraduate and the Deputy Editor of Hull Law Review Editorial Board. She has a strong interest in Family Law and White-Collar Crime, which she hopes to pursue as a Solicitor Advocate in her future career. Demonstrating her academic excellence, Chloe placed second in a legal essay writing competition focused on women’s equality within the legal sphere. Beyond her legal studies, she is a dedicated volunteer at the RSPCA, where she helps rehabilitate and socialize animals, a role that she finds highly rewarding.

John Kaya

Deputy Editor

John Kaya is a second-year LLB student and currently serves as the deputy editor for the Hull Law Review. His primary legal interests lie in civil law, with a particular focus on contract law, in which he achieved a 78% on the module and feels a strong affinity. He is passionate about helping individuals navigate complex civil matters, believing that providing legal support can have a lasting positive impact on their lives, allowing them to move forward without fear or worry. Outside of law, John is a dedicated speed enthusiast, with a deep knowledge of racing-from drifting to racetracks. Whether it’s explaining car specifications or discussing the history of racing, he is always eager to share his expertise.

Monis Ahmad

Deputy Editor

Monis is a third Year LLB Law student, who is also serving as a Deputy Editor of the HLR. He has navigated the world of communication and visual art along with public policy previously in the professional sphere. He envisages building a legal career in the field of Common Law practice areas, commercial litigation, financial technology and taxation. He is a student of life and a seeker of knowledge, who maintains a deep interest in reading books, cinema, motor bikes, cameras, farming and sports.

Briony Dodds

Deputy Editor

Briony is a first-year law student with a passion for legal intricacies and creative expression through music. She combines analytical thinking with artistic insight, finding a unique balance between legal precision and creativity that enhances both her academic and personal pursuits. As a Deputy Editor of the Hull Law Review Editorial Board, Briony actively contributes to advancing discussions on legal matters and issues. Beyond her studies, she enjoys playing the guitar, embracing the harmony between structured reasoning and artistic freedom.
